On the hunt for Sloe Gin and friends

Looking for some advice from the PH drink experts..

I do quite a lot of shooting during the winter months and when I go along to a day I've been invited to, I take a bottle of Sloe Gin as a thanks. The past few years I've driven to the house of bruar at bought a couple of cases of their gin



This always goes down really well and it is genuinely really nice. Trouble is Bruar are doing mail order now so everyone is buying it and it's no longer my special thing to take to the shoot.

So what I need is another brand of Sloe Gin to beat the copy cats who all buy the Bruar gin now! Doesn't have to be Sloe Gin, (maybe not been a drink?) but it does have to be special and lovely!! HELP PLEASE?!?

Echo that, although it is widely available throughout the country so doesn't quite have that 'unique' factor to it.

I won a bottle of Stags Breath at a charity do in our village last year. As it was my birthday "we" opened it at the table and almost single-handedly I polished off the 70cl bottle. Suffice to say I was rather wobbly on the way home.. I tripped up in the hallway and apparently said to the babysitter "I can see right up your skirt from down here".. She's always been too busy to sit for our kids since then, funnily enough. All in all I thoroughly recommend the stuff, albeit not a whole bottle in one sitting!

Wow! I didn't expect so many varied responses. Thanks all for taking time to put forward those suggestions!

I like the look of them all, I might even do a little experiment and get a bottle of each, take them along to different days throughout the season and see which goes down the best. And then I'll have a winner! I'll let you know how I get on.

As for making my own, I would like to try and am going to in the future. Trouble is so many people around my area make their own, some are really good, a lot are terrible, and seen as this is a gift of gratitude, risking terrible is not a good idea!

Hi there,

It has to be the new Sloe Gin from Warner Edwards, sure to be really popular but it's still quite a niche brand.
Think its due for release around 6th November.

This brand is owned by two great guys Tom and Sion and has been around for less than a year so definitely not mainstream.
