Mazda 6 starting problem

A friend of mine has just bought a 58 reg Mazda 6 from a Mazda dealership . After 10 days of her not using it a no start occurred . The AA came said battery was dead . Returning to dealership she was greeted with "you should drive it a minimum of 75 mikes. a week to Kerp it charged". Surely this can't be correct as many people don't use their cars that way and often I don't with a BMW . Any comments / experiences?,
