Just had a go in the new F Type V8 and its so tempting. Just like a grown up TVR really. Lucky I can't afford it!

Must admit, they are the only new car that I would have considered buying for the past 10 years. Sound the absolute nuts, look good and have a nice aura about them.

Saw one in the flesh the other day and have to say, it's going to hit the scratch list one day!

Not so good on safety but neither is a TVR... Driver is not on this planet anymore.

Quote from article ...

"The two cars were speeding at over 150mph on the residential street when another car pulled out of a house, causing one of the two racers to crash after it failed to brake in time." unquote.

But i guess that does not tell us what the impact speed was.. After hitting car it hit a tree. It happened in China not sure I can post the link on here as it actually shows the dead driver rolleyes

Was that via the Jag invites that were sent out?

I had an invitation to go and drive one for the day at a test track but I just didn't have time. They do look nice though - perhaps I should dig out the invite and find the time.

They left the driver laying dead in the road to send out an anti street racing message.

Not quite sure if I agree or not with that approach.

If you read the article his death had nothing to do with the car, he was flung out of the car and run over by his 'mate'. Looks to me that the car held up pretty well for a 150mph crash.

I did read it thank you. But you obviously did't properly as it does not say the impact was 150. He could of hit it at any speed, and could of died before being thrown from the vehicle and then hit by the other car.

The drivers compartment/cockpit seems to have held up quite well, had he been wearing his seatbelt who knows what the outcome would have been!. Apart from the obvious G force trauma he would have suffered, the top of the screen may have played a part in the mortality stakes. But it may not have!.
Even if he had managed to scrub off 50mph, the car is still pretty straight and the front suspension seems to have taken the brunt of the impact.
It is a tremendous shame someone has paid the ultimate price, but if you live by the sword and all that.

'The two cars were speeding at over 150mph on the residential street when another car pulled out of a house, causing one of the two racers to crash after it failed to brake in time.

Lung, driving a white Jaguar F-Type sports car, struck the kerb and hit a tree that tore off the roof and a wheel, throwing him from the vehicle where he was run over by the second car and killed instantly.'

Anything else is guesswork.

I guess we are reading the same article (DM online) Chinese whispers spreading " i saw car go 100,i saw car go 120,there was this white flash must of been doing 150eek

But what ever the real speed was I think jamienshelly summed it up.

In the end of "HIS" day it was down to driving recklessly in a built up area nono

I put up a piece about the new F Type, comparing it to TVR. Why some people turned it into a bloody thread about some lunatic in China is beyond me!

Given this is the TVR section and TVR salvage is a controversial subject there is definitely a joke in this story. I'm not going to tell it because I don't need the grief of dealing with any potential complaints. And, no, I don't have any sympathy for the idiot who died road racing at 150mph without a seat belt.
