So I just bought the LG NB4530A soundbar to go with my 47LM760T TV and I have a couple of problems. The TV and soundbar are connected with an optical cable. The TV volume control doesn't work on the soundbar. The soundbar comes up in Optical mode and I have turned Simplink on and the TV's internal speaker off. The TV remote volume control changes on screen but it doesn't affect the soundbar volume. In this mode it's supposed to say LG OPT presumably indicating it's detected an LG TV but it doesn't so I guess it's not working properly. I've reset the TV to factory defaults and set it up again to no avail. I had optical volume control working with another LG home cinema system before. Any suggestions?

Tried connecting it up with HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) this morning and it works much better. Still a mystery as to why the optical wasn't working properly but nevermind.

It's a great soundbar. Sounds good and looks very discrete.

Does your tv remote now control the volume of the sound bar with the change you made?

I don't see how an optical cable could carry any extra data to control the soundbar.

I also bought one of these a few weeks ago, very impressed with it for the money.

Top Tip - press 'sleep' once to switch off the soundbar display as it annoys me.

The instructions say it should when it detects a LG device on the other end it goes into LG OPT mode rather than OPTICAL mode but mine never did this. Auto-on/off worked with the optical connection but not volume. Thinking about it, my other LG home cinema device was connected with optical and HDMI.

The Sleep button thing is good, I just wished it remembered the setting over a power cycle.

Off topic somewhat, but what is the TV like?

I'm looking at this exact model, but I've read a few reviews that talk about motion blur during high levels of onscreen activity. Things like football and video games were highlighted as areas it occurs the most.

I'm not sure if it's just reviewers being overly picky though. I mainly use the TV for football and games, so it's a little bit of a concern.

It's a gorgeous TV and I really want it bounce

It's a great TV. Image quality in Full HD is superb, the connectivity and Smart features work well, even the passive 3D works well with a good source (I played all of Uncharted 3 in 3D and it was a great experience). I've not seen those reviews but the picture can suffer from some image tearing during fast pans. I can't say I notice much but it is present. The only way you're going to know if it bothers you or not is to watch what you normally watch on one. I don't really do kickball so I can't be an objective judge of whether it's good for that or not.
