So it looks like Elon Musk, founder of Tesla, (and paypal, space-x, etc) has paid a big stack of cash to buy one of the Lotus props from "the spy who loved me". But he doesn't plan on just sticking it in his private garage, he's going to have a go at turning it into a working sub/car. He may be making greeny electric cars for a living but you've got to admire him for getting on with stuff.

Don't recall Michael Caine being in The Spy Who Loved Me??

Maybe someone should tell Elon that Top Gear beat him to it....

Odd thing to do, the interest in that car (and value, though that may not concern him much) is that it was the working sub from the film.

He can buy an S1 esprit for his usual luncheon expenditure and cut that about without detracting from the original.

Which wouldn't be as good PR stunt, I concede.

Not a bad film. It features Michael Caine.
