I took my GTR there yesterday and have just downloaded a film of one of their young lads doing a 5 minute blast around the trading estate. I sent them the film questioning the necessity of this. They assured me this was totally necessary, part of the procedure, and they would have done it for even a Nissan Micra. 
They must think I got off the last banana boat.

Also i can understand going for a drive to make sure it drives straight but not driving fast, especially when the owner is near by!

The 5 minute blast was by a young kid BEFORE the car went in to have the alignment done.

They said they needed to check to see if it was pulling to one side or the other and one part of the test was to accelerate hard to check the so-called "drive thrust" effect. Piece of cake in a Chevrolet Matiz? 
Interestingly, after the kid brought it back, the older guy who actually did the work came and asked me if I had noticed the car pulling to one side or the other or had any handling issues with it.
I haven't driven the car enough since to notice any changes but I only took it in because I wanted it set up for street use to minimize tyre wear.

I surprised that David would allow that, his reputation is far too good to risk joy rides in customers cars.
I've spent thousands with him over the past 10 years or so and frequent his premises 4 or 5 times a year. I trust him implicitly.
2 of his mechanics are 40+ years of age, and the youngest would be around 25.
To slate the way your car has been treated on a forum like this (especially a local one), is very one sided.
I don't wish to see the evidence, feel free to upload it if you really feel that strongly about it, but I would ask you re-consider the persons age who you are referring to as a "kid", it would suggest someone of 18-20 years old. It certainly over dramatises the story somewhat.
Your post could be very detrimental to his business, especially when you seem to be recommending a competitor so heavily.

Being honest though there is no reason for your car to be driven either before or after the allingment I'm also supprised they let any member of their staff drive the car full stop.

I always use Autotest for my fast road/track alignments and know them very well. They are highly professional and they do do road tests as part of the alignment job. I would not worry about it.

Both. The test after the work was done was, I believe, carried out by an older man, the same one that did the work.Looking at the film of the post alignment test drive, it looks considerably more sedate and is a lot shorter. Listening to the audio, it appears he was warned about the camera by someone in the workshop.
I have no issue with the work they have done. It seems fine. The question is whether or not a test drive is necessary at all. With the capability of alignment technology these days, you wouldn't have thought so.
