Earlier in the week won some original 15" lattice wheels on E**y. (If anyone needs a replacement let me know I've one left over). Nipped up to pick them up today and arrived at a small farm courtyard out in the middle of nowhere - Farmhouse on left as i pulled in, stabling on the right, a few outbuildings and a large hay barn facing me. Thought i must be in the wrong place so asked a girl tending one of the horses where i might find the address i'm looking for, and she directs me to the large hay barn - cant be in there I think there's no signage or anything.....
Up i walk push open the door and step straight into an Automotive Aladins cave!!!! Straight in front is a MG midget very yellow very good nick with a Zetec S engine where a little 1500 bmc engine should be, Behind that on a lift, a truly immaculate late triumph Spitfire.
Ok nothing too stunning you think - until i look to my left and theres an Aston DB6 Volante undergoing a full resto, its just a body with rear wings and the doors and bootlid - over on the right another Aston - a DB5. Fellow comes up and leads me out the back to where the TVR wheels are stored. On the way through we pass a Ferrari Mondial witn an empty engine bay " oh yeah we're dropping an engine from a 430 into that" says the fella "should be a right beast when its finished".
The wheels were surplus to requirements cos the Garage put a Jensen 541 body on the TVR chassis and the customer had a set of bespoke wire wheels made and put on!
After a chat it turns out this garage does restoration and custom work on all sorts of stuff.
The whole place looks like something off a motoring calender, not something from real life and from the outside you'd never know it existed.
Just a few blokes in an old barn turning out fantastic motors....Awesome.

Get the wheels checked on a balancing machine for true-ness before doing anything else.

Jensen 541R or S? My dad had a customer with a 541R, lots of rust (on the chassis, the shell was GRP) and no money. I thought it was a hideous thing as a lad, even the Interceptor was hardly a thing of great beauty... anyway the guy sold the 541 and bought a Stingray, that was just more problems in a different shape rolleyes
Time bu99ers the memory... wasn't the 541 a 4L straight-6 Princess (Rolls-Royce) engine and a foreign autobox...?

Didn't say whether it was an R or S. I know bugger all about them TBH. The car was finished ages ago theyve just had the wheels hanging around an decided to have a clear out.
