Just discovered from HP that no matter what I do, my 3850 is not going to reliably talk to my TomTom3 bluetooth unit.

So, I'm on the hunt for a new, faster ipaq, (unless anyone can convince me to go for something else that will run my ipaq based software).

There seems to be a bewildering array of ipaq available these days, anyone got a suggestion as to which to go for? Must haves over the 3850 woudl only realy be bluetooth, though I'm tempted by wifi, and if I could get an integrated phone too that would save carrying an extra gadget and power cable etc etc.

Any ideas folks?

been entirely cheeky, does your old PDA run the Tom-Tom map software?

I'm after a cheap PDA that can run the software, but the not the GPS...

Certainly does. Works pretty well too, (I managed to not get lost which is something..). Only thing is, it won't do the GPS thing..

Is it a GPS issue or a blue tooth issue?

I went for a CF Card version GPS unit to cut down on the number of wires and charging I needed.

I'm told BT will not work with the version of PPC that I've got installed on the 3850. The 3850 version of PPC 2003 will not reliably support BT. Since the ipaq is more reliable with 2003 I don't really want to revert to 2002.

If you have Compact Flash socket look at the rikakine range.

Mine sits neatly out the top of of my PPC2003 Ipaq2200 and regualy gets 9 - 12 satellites from the inside of the car windscreen.

aslo try www.pocketgps.co.uk as a forum and an excellent gps camera locator.

Thanks, but I've got a perfectly good GPS receiver, it just won't talk to my ipaq because the ipaq won't cope with bluetooth.

The annoying thing is I bought the bluetooth gps unit after I'd bought a bluetooth gps jacket having been told the jacket would work fine with my ipaq. It did for a couple of months, then gave out on me..

Hence, need a new ipaq and wondering which is the best to go for..

Understand,

My Ipaq 2200 has been perfect for the last 12 months.

If your old ipaq is up for sale, how much do you want? Drop me an email.

I've got an old iPAQ 3630 running TomTom3 with an HP NavSystem GPS jacket. Works fine (Could do with a bit more ram though.)
