Hi Mate...It depends whether you need front or rear suspension parts..The front is predominately ford Granada MK2 and Cortina Mk4-5 so ball joints, Track rod ends, Control arm bushes, Drop links etc can be bought from a ford supplier, Rear suspension parts maybe better from someone like RT racing..Who can also supply most of the front suspension parts albeit a tad more expensive..However for Trailing arm bushes i have used superflex which are more expensive but seem to be a completely different quality, I personally dont trust so called original factory parts or items put together in 3rd world countries!..Please note that if you do go the Superflex route for trailing arm bushes that the steel inserts they supply are too thick so save the ones from the old mounts which will need to be burnt out and cleaned..However i have just sent them some inners so hopefully in future they will not be an issue...I believe suspension legs were monroe but were modified/Engineered by TVR so advice is needed before attempting to fit aftermarket ones..Again RT should be able to supply the standard fitment..There might be others but i have yet to go down that road so someone else may be able to point you in the right direction, Hope this has helped..Cheers..Ziga

Ziga your a star.
Bottom picture round bar going back to chassis from bottom of hub.
Just getting the 280i back on the road after having four other TIVS in the mean time.
Think I will be replacing all the rubber bushes ect on the front for a good job so will need to get them all from somewere.

Hi Mate..I think the leading link in Cortina terms is a strut bar..You might be better off buying a complete kit although they are available in Powerflex or Superflex..Dont buy Floflex!..These manufacturers have different reviews from people who have used them, The ford guy that i use prefers the superflex kits..If you are replacing Upper and lower ball joints then you will need to drill out the old fixings as the new ones come with nyloc nuts..If you can wait a couple of days before ordering anything i will check tomorrow as regards to any feedback on the superflex kits that they sell and confirm what they consist of, Ideally you want all the bushings...Cheers..Ziga

Hi,
Having just found my old wedge bible it would seem I need the following:

Tie rod bushes
drop link bushes
anti roll bar bushes
Upper and lower wishbone bushes
Track rod ends

Other jobs on the list are:

Free clutch
Replace one brake line
One light pod coming on but not raising
Four new tyres just to be safe

The car was in A1 condition when I moth balled her six years ago, having had a 350i, Chim and now a perfect Tuscan my spanner twitching has returned to the 280i.
Just put all new gaskets on the engine with recon rad and silicone hoses and some light alloy polishing.
Started her up yesterday and she ran like a dream all be it a little rich maybe.

Another question, stuck my timing light on and it looks like 8 deg before TDC is this ok?

Cheers

Hi Mate..It should be around 12 degrees with the vacuum pipe disconnected.. It would need to be lower if you use low octane rated fuel..To about 9..However with super unleaded and additive it should be ok around 12 unless you experience any pinking...Ziga

Hi Mate..I was advised not to buy them as the compound is too unreliable and the fail rate is/was high!..They might of sorted it but is it worth risking?..Ziga

If you want original type then i believe RT racing might be able to accommodate..If you want upgrades then it will be best to research thoroughly as there has been reports of all sorts of problems from incorrect spring rates to bent chassis mounts..Hopefully someone who has done this will be able to help more...Cheers..Ziga

Hi Mate...Just checked with the ford guys and they can get all the bushes you need, The ones in their online shop are available straight away but some are not listed but he can get those, Upper wishbone bushes are quite expensive, Around 140 sobs for the 4..Upper and lower ball joints can be bought on fleabay....Just search for Cortina mk4-5 upper and lower ball joints...The leading link is called tie bar and is referred to that when ordering Superflex bushes...Hope this helps..Cheers..Ziga
