Cut it out. Only way to be sure.

But if you're not man enough for that, I just load up on Strepsils, throat spray and ice cream. Dunno if that helps get rid but it certainly relieves the pain. Sore throats suck.

Gargle with warm water with soluble aspirin . 'Coats' the painful area . Also good for mouth ulcers . Certainly works for me . Advised by a GP....

This. It's f*cking hideous, and you stink, but it does the trick - twice a day until it goes. Also, freshly squeezed 1/2 lemon + spoons of honey to taste, not forgetting the crucial ingredient of a spoon or two of glycerin & hot water.

Tyrozets to dissolve in your mouth, again, not very nice, but between these three, you should see it off.

Tough it out till it goes. It's probably a virus so not much is going to make it go any quicker. Lozenges or the like to soothe it in the interim.

I also found ibuprofen handy when I had a sore throat as it reduced swelling so made it more comfortable to swallow.

By the way, do you smoke? I used to get them all the time when I did. Now I don't, I don't.

Spicy curry or hot chilli kebab.

You might have a sore ringpiece the following morning though, so I recommend a toilet roll or two in the fridge.

Good malt whiskey. At least a double before bed. If it burns slightly on the way down its working.
