Normally when playing PS3/watching TV/listening to music I run my audio through my midi hifi speakers. I've used this for well over a decade and very pleased with it. However I like my audio a little loud, so its not very good for the night time therefore I'm considering a pair of over-ear headphones or a 'gaming' headset. Can anyone suggest any?

I want something comfy, that sounds good, I don't want to feel like I'm losing out going from my hifi to headphones. Should be nice enough to use for watching TV/movies/listening to music. Whether its wireless or not isn't much of an issue, but would be a bonus. My hifi has simulated surround sound so having this feature (or more) would be preferrable Dolby would be a bonus, but not essential.

Looking around everyone seems to suggest the Sony Pulse headset for around £100. It's around as much as I am willing to pay. Ideally it would be the Astro A40's or A50's, but they're out of my budget.

So can anyone suggest anything else other then the Sony Pulse?

Really like them, sound is great and mimics surround sound really well. super comfortable too.

If you ever get ps4 the pulse ones will be compatible and others not. I have read that you can get an adapter which converts the 'optical out' to the AV red and white sound out connectors so all may not be lost if you buy the others.

I have the pulse ones and they are great for gaming. In bf4 I can directionally hear enemy/friendly footsteps. They are also great for tracking vehicles by sound.

When the battery runs low on the pulse ones is it possible to use it wired? From what I hear about the ps4 is that the third party headsets will not work from launch, but at an unknown later date. I'm not too fussed about that as I won't be buying a ps4 at launch, perhaps a yearlater.
Do you ever use them as a regular pair of cans for listening to music and so forth? Does it workwell as one?
Thanks

Yes you can plug them in and use them wired. Battery life is something around 2-3hrs, I have never actually timed it.

I haven't used them for music. The sound quality for gaming is very good but I am no audiophile so can't offer a very considered opinion.
