Renault Clio 172 cup - Iceberg silver

I've been on here a bloody long time now, and I haven't actually ever done one of these before. Maybe it's because I can now (at the grand old age of 21) actually insure enthusiast type cars...

The car itself has done 65k miles, so relatively low for a 172, and is 1 of 90 registered in this particular colour.

It's as it came out of the factory apart from 30MM lowering springs, which IMO set the car off nicely. I do have a few plans for it over the coming months, but nothing exterior wise apart from a smaller front plate measured to fit the recess.

Lovely car and as you say, not many in that colour! Nice to see the 'Cup 172' badge in one piece, they normally lose letters over the years.

Go steady they are very hard cars to drive quick. Unforgiving of mistakes. Speaking from experience!!

Can you pick up a decent example of these with £2000 or am I well off the mark? I'm a similar age to you and having sold my MX-5, am looking for a fun 5 seat car (that can seat 4 with relative comfort) for track days and driving trips.

For a cup you're looking at just over 2k for a decent example, but if you want a normal 172 you can pick up a good one for 1500 quid.

Just make sure you check when the all important belts were done!

I run track days at curborough, so should find out this month what she's like on track. I've also booked donington on the 24th of November, so should be an experience.

A full cambelt service on a 172 is about 600 pound, and needs specialist tools to do. I'd advise buying one with them done by a reputable company. They need changing every 72k or five years.

The way everyone goes on about them I was expecting you to say 1k or more
