Saved from the Scrap Man. Mk2 Golf Gti
Discussion

Heard about this car a few weeks ago, sat with a broken gearbox and destined to be scrapped as the current owner didn't see the need to spend the money to swap the box out and had a new car to focus on.
Short MOT, busted gearbox (still drivable) and dirtier than a tramps sock. Some monies exchanged hands and the two day marathon of cleaning started.
This is what it looked like when I got it home:

So after some cleaning (the seats may only be saved by the use of petrol and fire!) the end result is this. Quite happy.

Gearbox in next week and a new MOT (hopefully) then the decision to sell or keep will be made.

Nice save!!!! get that seat replaced and you will have very nice car to be proud of.
seats need burning tbh!!! they are hanging!might wet vac up ok for now but replacement interiors for these are peanuts so hopefully get that sorted soon.
Just had a mega quote for insurance for HIC so might be a keeper

Great cleaning job OP. Can i ask what you used for the faded black plastic on the external bumper and trim?
Thanks. Used Meguiar's Endurance Tyre Gel, find it really helps with properly old and tired tri, probably better stuff out there but i have this for my tyres and it does the job
