I was doing 39mph in a 40 limit 'cos I'd seen plod trying to hide up the road. Then I saw one of our "finest" stand up, point the Pro-laser at me. Bingo! Valentine-1 goes off. Smug expression on my face.

Why was I singled out when I was obviously not speeding? does this mean "forming an opinion of excess speed" is a crock (as I think it is) ???

This isn't the sort of service I expect.

In terms of service - were you hoping they'd stop you and make you a cup of tea?

Hertsbiker, theyre just a bunch of power crazed plebs with tiny cocks.
Why else would they do such a job, if not to impose their viciousness on others?
Screw em all i say, let the war on the state begin.

Surely the "smugness" of being under the limit is enough. A broad smile as you pass them always feels good too...

They lazered you because they can and there is nothing you can do about it.

Nice huh?

You've got a speedo and a gadget to make sure you are under 40 the policeman doesn't. TBH I'm not sure I could tell a 39mph speed from a 45mph one from outside the car at a distance.

Perhaps the laser was deflected off another surface?

Which brings round the whole new argument of how are they able to "form an opinion" that a car is speeding if they cannot tell. And if that is the case then surely unless the car is VERY obviously speeding to the point of being dangerous then it should be nigh on impossible to legitimatly target someone doing 33 in a 30...

I always find it's best to be behind a laser, than in front of it..

I have been lasered more than once when I was doing 25 in a 30. ( I knew they were there) Seems they zap everything that moves here in North Wails.......

I guess he couldn't tell how fast you were going (can they ever?) so was probably hoping to get you for even 1mph over. You were so nearly a criminal waiting for instant "justice".

I put this to the test last week. I left my works entrance and turned onto the main road (40 limit). I spotted the 2 fluorescent jacketed plods at the next turnoff 300yds down the road. I accelerated up to 30mph, 10mph under the limit, thinking to myself 'I am so obviously not speeding that they should not be interested in me.' I got lasered as I approached, and was none too happy with this. Smacks of looking for revenue to me.

Don't know how....doesn't hurt to point a laser and see what the car is doing.....

I do it for cars that aren't in my target speed bracket, just to keep my skills up to date....guessing the speed to see if I was right...no harm in that....

Hmm, you're getting on dodgy ground there, SC.

SC: As h'an h'officer of the law I h'estimate that this vehicle is travelling at 30 miles per hour. I think I'll just check if I'm correct.
LTI2020: beep, 36mph, beep.
SC: H'oh, h'even though my prior opinion 'as not been corrob'h'orated, I see that this vehicle is speeding, I'll do 'im.
