I bought the snotter on Saturday the 21st of September, the V5 was sent off by the dealer the following Monday (he claims) and I have got the 'new keeper' green slip.

The 4 weeks have passed and no V5.

Taking into account the snail mail, the fact the DVLA are inundated due to the work load caused by closing offices and the fact they are generally regarded as under paid, paper shuffling, civil service drones...

How much longer do I leave it until I start wasting money, time and oxygen tracking down my / applying for a reissued new V5C?

Do I give 'em another 5 working days or join the phone queue now in the vague hope that I might be able to speak to a knowledgeable human being sometime before Christmas 2015?

There is a bit of a backlog at DVLA currently owing to the closure of regional offices causing divergence of staff from normal departments, cost cutting and the busy September/October new car registration period.

Mine usually take between 5 and 6 weeks typically, I'd wait until it has been a few days before the 6 week marker before chasing as advised.

However now you've posted on here it will come in tomorrows post smile

I forgot the new plates came out around then... OK I'll give 'em another fortnight.
