A friend was telling me about the race on Saturday. Not good to read after Sean Edwards and Franchitti. I asked that friend that follows US racing whether the DW12 car protected Franchitti, and we discussed how many times Wheldon and Franchitti have won the Indy 500.
62G sounds a lot.

Was watching this live, and was a very strange race indeed. Didn't look to be too bad a crash at first, in fact Servia's impact looked to be worse, but when they showed the replays, you could see just how hard Vautier t-boned him and how much the cockpit whipped round. I think a lot of people were concerned for his back, given his previous injury at Mid-Ohio. As much as I like Indycar, I do find it odd they race somewhere where there are known track issues. Lapping an oval at 220mph+ is hard enough without having to worry about a track seam spinning you out.
yep - but take a look at the in-car from James Jakes during the same (Justin Wilson's) accident and you'll see a large chunk of drive shaft (or whatever) missing his head by a few cms...this was a much larger piece of metalware than took Felipe Massa out in Hungary.
The incident was replayed in slow motion and it is excrutiating to watch...
