Yeast Ear infection - Puppy
Discussion
My little lad is a bit down in the dumps today - rather than distracting me from work he is sat in his crate looking sad.
I noticed this morning that he has a cheesy smelling ear which I have read is an ear yeast infection.
Just wondering which home remedies people have used to sort this out - before I go to the vets and get done for another £50!
He had a yeast infection on his foot which I sorted with some cider vinegar, but unsure if that's any good for his ears?
Any advice is appreciated.
Cheers

What about pain relief? You ever had an ear infection? Take him to the vets this time and get it treated properly.
Home remedies may and can work but at least let the vet see what the cause maybe and give some pain relief.
Worry about home remedies later once you have at least some idea of what the problem is.
Ear problems can become chronic problems when they don't need to. Make sure if you do decide to take him that you complete any treatment properly. Never treat an ear problem with just one or two days of treatment every now and again.

Been through that a few times with our Westie and this worked each time.....

This was learned after the necessary visits to the vet etc etc

Stop being so tight; take him to the Vet & find out what actually is wrong with him rather than relying on Google & if he is in any pain (which it sounds like he is!) before trying to cure him with home remedies!Any advice is appreciated.
Would you rather him be happy & distracting you or in pain?
I would strongly advise against self medicating -
Aspirin can be very toxic to dogs if the incorrect dose is given.
Paracetamol is toxic to dogs. Different breeds can react differently to medication so always get veterinary advice before giving human medicine to dogs.
Vets are not there to rip you off but to give the safest and most effective treatment to your 'beloved' pet.
Oh come on - how am I being tight?
I was just asking if anyone knows about an off the shelf solution that I could buy to clean / treat his ears. Rather than wait a week for the Vet to see him. I dont see the point in the delay and added expense when I could buy a bottle of solution and treat him straight away.
He isn't in any pain and still full of beans - he was probably down in the dumps as he hadn't had play time yet as I had a lot of work on.
Anyway I dropped in on my neighbor and the vet was there checking over his livestock. The vet kindly inspected the pups ears and said they were fine - just a little smelly and needed a deeper clean (which is something he hasn't had since birth)
He also said that he cleans his labs ears with diluted apple cider vinegar (the same thing I used to sort his paw) - which in his personal view works better than any of the chemical solutions you can buy. As long as there isn't any cracking or cuts then its perfect for the job. Home remedies huh!
I appreciate the concern for my little boy - but rest assured that if he had a full blown infection, had his ear been swollen, had he clearly been in pain then he would have gone straight to the vets - but a bit of a wiff coming from his ears isn't a situation for blues & twos just yet! I have a lot of love for this dog so its not like I am going to neglect him or let him suffer!
The upshot is that his ears are now whiff free, shame he rolled in badger s
t the other day so despite repeated washing the rest of him doesn't smell to great!
