Temperature sender

Since I replaced the engine coolant temp sensor the temperature gauge has packed up.
The car is running a lot better but I dont like not having a temp gauge.
Where should I be looking for a fault? I have had a good poke around, I cant see any loose wires or damaged connections.

Andy the gauge sender is a different one at the front of the engine near the thermostat housing.

It's possible that you disturbed or snapped the wire.

Thanks adam
I will have another look around and see if I can find any damaged wires.
I was 99% sure it was a different sender but thought it was worth checking with the experts.
