I 'm a confirmed beemer man but for a while i've had a strange hankering for a daily classic and a bit of a hankering for a ce.

Seen an utter minter with 119k miles, recent owner was Mboc enthusiast and it apparently has all its records. I've done some research, read buying guides and am reasonably happy with the price point.

So MB PHers. Any particular reason why not or should i just stfu and get on with it?

How many miles are you planning on doing in it? The M110 engine is a thirsty beast. Needless to say, a car of this ilk would need pretty much constant maintenance to keep it in good shape, but if you are handy with the spanners and look upon this as a hobby, then why not? The prices are only going to go in one direction.

Rust is your enemy but that's about it. I ran a saloon version for a couple of years as a daily driver and it delivered beyond expectations, only broke down once with a perished fuel pipe. Couldn't recommend one highly enough, they do like a drink though- I think mine did 22mpg tops. Petrol was 85ppl at the time so I didn't care. Oh and check the door and boot seals, at 30 yrs old they can be beyond their best.

Not desperately fussed about fuel as I have a longer term plan to have a modern diesel engine and box fitted at some stage. Some may call it sacriledge but I prefer re-imagined.

Heavy, wallowy handling, dead steering, not fast, thirsty, lots of chrome to corrode not to mention the bodywork, very high parts prices, low top gear for motorways.

I'm looking for a W124 or W201 myself as they're a bit more modern to drive & better on fuel.
