Telephone Interview from Offshore Agency

Hi Everyone, I have managed to get a telephone interview from Offshore Marine in Aberdeen hopefully for a roustabout position. Anyone any pointers or first hand knowledge of what they may ask. This may be my 1 and only chance.

Been reading up about roustabout duties etc. Just need to be as prepared as I can be.

No disrespect to you or the position but getting started as a rousty shouldn't be too hard

Try and get across that your hard working (safely of course) and willing to work your way up the ladder

If only you knew. So many trying to get off its like every man and his dog. The Agency's have literally thousands just trying to get their foot in the door. Each and everyone give same reply when u ring up. Won't consider anyone unless u have previous offshore experience.

Hence reason why I need to get through telephone interview before the formal one.

Let's assume (hope) that the person or persons you'll be speaking to have some semblance of knowledge and sense.

The position you’re applying for is in a very particular environment. People’s minds have to be in the right place to keep it safe.

You need to understand that and you need to highlight your understanding.

It’s not just a case of doing things safely yourself. You need to be aware of everyone else around you and you need to care about them too. The word “care” is key here and you might want to use it.

In your new work place; if you feel uncomfortable about anything, you need to have the confidence not to be afraid to ask a daft question.

Conversely, you need to be understanding of someone who asks a question which you may think is daft. There’s no such thing.

Folks want to work with folks who take care and it extends right through doing things methodically right down to keeping tidy.

By all means show keenness but reign back before you might seem over confident.

Forgot how much a pain in the arse agensies are but alot of companies now use them.
Just a pity your not based in Aberdeen where you could go round the various service & drilling companies etc & maybe get lucky and be in the right place at the right time
