Via Spain smile

We're running low on red top and I heard there's a supermarket in Denia doing a special offer, so the ferry's booked and I leave on Friday morning. thumbup

The only downside is the weather. No matter how many times I refresh the met office website, it still shows lightning bolts pretty much marking out my route. Clearly, God is dead against this.

First stop is in Vive le Gaylord (proper name Brive-la-Gaillarde) north of Toulouse. After an overnight stay in the cheapest hotel in the western world I carry on through the Pyrenees, due south, chicane around Andorra and on towards Barcelona. A few short hundred miles later I should arrive at my destination.

Hope it's open hehe

Would be tragic to leave your change on the counter and have to go all that way back for it. Just saying...

Sounds great! We are off on a 2.5k miles road trip on Sunday, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Liechtenstein, Germany, Luxembourg, Belguim, France.

But it's in the tin top as we are picking up a canoe in Budapest and 4 of us are going. One day the Cerb or the Chimaera will get a similar run.

Will you be providing updates?

That's just showing off with all those countries! irked
I did try to factor in some Autobahn on the way but it wasn't quite justified. But they do good sausages in Germany. I'll check if we're low on those. idea

Yes I will try to give some updates and pics.

My main concern is my wipers, they are a bit floppy/lack stamina.

We decided in 2012 to visit 13 countries in 2013 - just for fun, so far we are up to 9 so need 4 more, we have already done France and Belgium they year so can count those 2 but the rest of them are new hence the circuitous route.

As for the wipers - just go quicker biggrin

I'm sure they sell canoes in this country and the're not that heavy - you won't need four people to lift it...rolleyes

Last time they gave up I was stuck in a service station in the rain with no wipers. I just used autoglym resin on the screen and it had the same effect as rain-x. So that's my plan in case of wiper failure. smile

Please don't use Rain-X - they sponsor "Brake" the anti speed motoring charity pressure group. There are several alternatives the do exactly the same job just as well - Turtle Wax do one as do Halford own brand.

Apparently this is a special one. Something to do with Olympic qualifying. Who know - I get a road trip out of it though smile

Not bad thanks Gary. The weather yesterday was horrendous, I might as well have driven across the channel!

Not many pics but here I am at a garage:

Example of the weather (that's my screen tint, not blue sky):

Another garage:

Current location:

Looks like being dry(er) today so gonna wash the worst of the crud off the car and get going smile

Didn't know that, I'm actually using and alternative product bought from Waxstock, but I forgot its name.

Yes the drive through Spain was fantastic. Plenty of first gear hairpins through the mountains, and the east coast road is very fast smile. The car did me proud, the only hiccup being the starter motor not engaging every now and then (getting on and off the boat in particular - doh!).

The car got lots of attention when moving and stationary, as usual. You always feel a bit like a celebrity driving a cerb on the continent.

Great fun.

Slightly off topic, but do you get much interest from the BIB re size of front number plate?
