In a 996, does a tiptronic gearbox free up any legroom?
Presumably if you're only using your right leg to stop & go your left is redundant and can be safely folded up and stored in the boot? Or perhaps made a little more comfy with a centre console delete? Or a smaller steering wheel?

I'm grasping at straws trying to find a way of fitting daughter no.2 behind my 6'4" self in a 996.......

Not really but as per 996 GT2 you can easily remove the lower section of the dash which will free up leg room.

The Sport seat dont go back as much as the regular seats and some(very rarely) had the lower seat option which take the seat down by 10mm.

I'm 6ft 1in - nothing ever sat behind me in my 911s. I classed mine as 3-seaters

If you fit cruise control, you should be able to fold up your right leg as well and put it in the boot.

Not sure the youngest would appreciate being strapped to the bootlid, she'd be on the phone to Esther Ransen in a heartbeat and I'd get put on some kind of list.
It's not like it's the regular family bus but I'm struggling to see the point in owning a car that we can't all fit into at once, kind of defeats the object when we have to take two cars to the seaside.....
