Who is running the worst set of tyres??
Discussion
Right, I will start. Purchased a nice 1972 MGB GT recently that possibly has the worst set of tyres on it. When i say the worst I don't mean tread depth just age or brand. Here goes :
2 x WANLI - The previous owner fitted these prior to Me purchasing is as it needed 2 tyres for its MOT. They appear to be made of granite!
1 x NEW SOLAR - A what?? Well its not new as it has no date stamp so its at least pre 2002!
1 x FIRESTONE - No datestamp & has paint overspray on it of the cars PREVIOUS colour!!
Needless to say, despite all having plenty of tread (the WANLI's will still have tread the day Accrington manage to win the Premiership) all 4 are getting changed ASAP for some decent branded rubber.
Anyone else got a worse set of rubber on their car??

I got rid of 4 "zeta ZTR10" typres fitted to the MX5. And this is why it was bad. They were fitted to the car by a lotus dealer. Who also had actual lotus cars witted with the same....
They were the worse tyres I have ever experienced. Worse than the Triangles fitted to the Vectra...

I had a set of Nexen CP641 once. I'd have been happier with four different makes of tyre as at least one corner may have had some chance of grip.
I don't normally fuss about tyres (had some Arrows on a 306 which I thought were OK) but these CP641 were really bad. In the wet it was a lot like driving on ice. I thought my ABS was broken it was working so much. Took them off with 6mm tread remaining as I just couldn't stand them.

Matching set of Falken ZE-912 on the BMW, I thought they'd be okay but they're noisy and harsh on some surfaces and now the fronts are down to 4mm the car has started tram-lining like a b
h. I set the tracking when they were fitted so I know it's fine. They do have good wet and dry grip though.

I think the Infinity tyres are named such as they will last an infinity due to the marble type compound!!
When I bought my Mondeo it had an Infinity INF-50 on the N/S/R. I can confirm they don't last an infinitely long time, by the time it was worn down to 4-5mm there were deep cracks forming in the tread grooves and spreading to the side walls. The Beaver King said:
I have a set of Pirelli P6000's on my TVR S.
Terrible in the wet and crap on light cars, so basically the worst tyre you could possibly put on a TVR. They've got plenty of tread, but I've got to change them before they kill me....
Must second the P6000s. They are noisy buggers too!Terrible in the wet and crap on light cars, so basically the worst tyre you could possibly put on a TVR. They've got plenty of tread, but I've got to change them before they kill me....
Thinking of changing them for a set of Shinwini Presidents. They've got to be better.

I've had very bad experiences on these. Made the back end of my XJ6 extremely skittish with all the lovely progressive characteristics of the car on the previous Vredesteins nowhere to be found.

Yes, and folk rave about them! It's because of all the praise they have gotten over the years that I gave them a try. Luckily I only paid £120 for the four as they were 'part worn' (although they were manufactured in 2012 and had 7+mm tread when I bought them).
Incidentally Vredestein are on the short list for which tyre I'm going to put on next. I'm leaning towards Goodyears though.
