The Martini Mustang: Time For Tea?

An iconic car in an iconic livery makes for another brilliant Petrolicious vid

Rather than make another Bullitt or Eleanor rep with his late-60s Mustang, Steve Strope had a rather different idea. Namely, adorn the Mustang with one of the most iconic liveries ever, install a racing engine and finish the car to an absurdly high standard.

The result is the Martini Mustang. Alright, it's not an authentic period livery for the Mustang, but does that matter when the result looks like this? Owner Strope describes it as 'loud and fast art' which, even allowing for owner bias, is actually quite accurate. There always seems to be another aspect to look at, inside and out.

The interior is particularly lovely, with details like the AC pedals and cue ball gearknob featuring in a very, very clean cabin. It really does look like a show car, which is less surprising when you discover Steve and the guys at Pure Vision prepare cars for SEMA.

The Mustang's 'big wow', though, is reserved for under the hood (sorry, bonnet), but we'll let Steve tell you all about that...

I assume the 'Indy' engine is one of the alloy block 4.2s?

'65 and '66 fastback mustangs are the best shape imo. Would love to be able to build a car to that spec one day. Although I'd probabaly be scared to use it then!

Quite! I like his justification for the various mods, a kind of "well they really did this and this, so I combined them."

Dude...That is Awesome...

This is why I build cars..This is why originality isn't so important to me...

That car has attention to detail in bucket loads..

Brilliant.

Watching the video was like being mugged by a whole queue of people with baseball bats. Initial look and sound, detail shots, underside of front, interior, engine..... each time you recover from an amazing treat you get smacked in the mouth with another one biggrin

It'd be hard to "drive it like you stole it", but I do hope that you cane the nuts off it every now and then. Just because you can!!
