Best tyres (986 S)?

As per my other Costco thread, very interested to hear views on the best tyres for a 986S - 18" wheels. It's difficult to get any consistent and/or upto date feedback. I'm leaning toward Michelin PS3s at the moment. PS2s might be tricky to find now as are being superceded I believe.



Any thoughts welcome.

That's the first I've heard that PS2's are to be replaced. Either way, they are readily available and are considered to be among the best out there. PS3'3 are more of a touring tyre than high performance.

Mine is now on PS2s & they are fantastic, much better than the Pirellis that were on it before.

Can you get the Michelin Supersports in the relevant sizes? IMHO that would be the very best choice.

So you have 225/40 and 265/35?

Is it a dry-only car, or a daily driver?

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 always get exceptional reviews. I'd also look at Vredestein Vortis (I'll be putting these on my 18" rims next time). I'm currently on Sessantas and they have been excellent, much better than the Conti2N2s that preceded them.

Another option - Hankook Ventus S1 evo2 always gets good reviews.

If you live in Rain-land, I'd also consider the Uniroyal Rainsport2 - allegedly the Rainsport3 is due out so that is all that stops me saying 'buy the U-RS2'.

If you have an N-rating issue, I'd look at the Bridgestone S-02 (I have these on one of my 17" sets) if you are a dry-only sort of chap, otherwise the PS2 as above (not the PS3).
