Hi,

I've not had much respone in the computer section so i thought i ask for some more local help.

As a result of my technological deficiency I’m after some help if possible.

My wife’s laptop has just stopped working and as a result she needs a new one. She uses it almost entirely for work and therefore it needs to be more robust than have fancy graphic cards etc. She likes HP, or should I say the buttons on her HP so unless there is a really good reason not to buy one she’d probably like to go for one again.

Our visits to 2 well known superstores has resulted in a realisation that they don’t care which laptop we buy as long as we buy all their extra products that go with it.

Budget is about £400-£450, has anyone got any suggestions as to which may be a good model and where to buy it from?

Oh and also is there any difference between Intel and AMD?

Many thanks

Mark.

Lenovo, no contest. Good plan is to visit www.dabs.com see which you like, spec it a bit then Google a bit but I've usually found Dabs quite competitive. Lenovo website is quite good too.

Any other laptop just feels rubbish IMHO

Or you could see what Novatech can offer; they're usually highly rated.

Lenovo have a good reputation.

We use Dell stuff at work and whilst many criticise them we don't have any problems.

We have a Novatech one here - it's used regularly and has not lasted too well to be honest, but they are good value for the spec.

You should aim for an Intel I5 and at least 4GB RAM. If that is too pricy (plenty on eBay) then an I3 processor.

Thanks to all of you for your help - Now sorted Intel I5 4g of something and 500g's of something else. off to collect it - any excuse to take the TVR out!
