I have the spec of the battery, but does anyone know the physical dimensions that fit into a 1999 4.5 Cerb?

The battery is at home (still in the car) and I'm at work. Oddly I've found a helpful chap at Halfwits who seems to know the car and wants to help!

Thanks all.

Oh sorry, didn't realise that was the size of the battery.

Thanks

I couldnt get hold of an 072, measured it and went to halfords and got one very very close physically, but when i come to install it the terminals were back to front.

However, there is enough slack on the cables on my 99 4.5 to still install this battery!

Funny you should say that, I've just bought a Halfwits battery and discovered the same thing. Trouble is, I don't think it will fit my Cerb, as there's a fibreglass cover over the battery and the terminals would be 'buried' underneath it.

Hoping it might just be a case of not used for a couple of weeks and needs a charge. But then this is a TVR so I'm not going to be that lucky am I?

This is all sounding very reminiscent of last February, eh Joolz?

Lets just say it ended up with a blown exhaust manifold, a trip to Joolz, and a sizeable cheque & apologetic letter from Halfords.

Sooooo... if you're going to fit it, MAKE SURE THOSE CABLES ARE TIED BACK WELL

That's just what mine's like -- I have to remove the inner bonnet thingy to get to the terminals. Fortunately I don't have to do it that often...

Just to avoid the same fate, did you get my email on the same topic?

Something along the lines of Mr Positive cable meet Mr Exhaust Manifold - he's hot, real hot.

Abridged version of the story: 'cos the terminals were the wrong way round, it left a load of loose cable from the battery that they didn't tie back. This worked its way over to the exhaust manifold (which, unsurprisingly, gets quite hot). Had a funny burning smell now & then for a couple of days before it burnt right through the sleeve, shorting the battery out on the manifold, which left a rather big hole where there really should've been some metal.
