Its an S1 so your looking at 4+ years old now and things are going to wear. Dealers just look for anything that is near-worn as a chance to replace and charge. Best thing to do is download the service notes and try and do as much as you can by yourself or local garage and just use the dealer to get a check and a stamp.

Links above will have everything you need in terms of parts and as for servicing there are some very reasonable indepenedents out there.

£360 for those replacements is taking the piss. 30 minutes per side plus parts = £360???

I am in the process of having this thread removed after I received a complaint.

To be honest I have been a little unfair as I missed off the list the track rod ends where being replaced as part of the £360 charge - I have had this pointed out and I apologise if I caused offence to the dealership in question.

I'm sure my comments haven't done much for the motivation of the engineers in question but I'm sure they are professionals and will complete the job to a very highest standard.

My original sentiment behind the comments are a reflection on the motor industry as a whole and I have been on the receiving end of poor over priced service from all but one main dealer in the past.

I HAVE NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE OF THIS DEALER IN THE PAST AND YOU SHOULD ASSUME THAT THEY PROVIDE A SERVICE TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS AS DESCRIBED BY THEIR LITERATURE. SORRY!
