Today started off pretty meh. Bored at work for the first half spent most of the day thinking about food and reading threads on here. Lunch time comes and I'm out the door in search of sugary treats.

Sugary treats found I walk back to my car which is in one of those two car recessed bay thingies to see some guy who looks like the dad from Steptoe and Son reversing at an angle that has me thinking he's going to hit my car. I stand on the pavement and watch as he does in fact hit my car. There was no obvious damage on inspection but what really wound me up was that he gets out and starts to walk away without even looking.

Now I'm the sort of person. I know st happens we all make mistakes blah blah. Had he got out looked and inspected I'd have let it slide. But no he doesn't so I ask him if he's going to look and check to see if there is any damage?

What'd it got to do with you?
It's my fking car that's what its got to with me.

(sometimes offence is the best form of defence)

There's no damage

You didn't even look and if I wasn't here you'd have carried on about your day

I didn't notice I hit it.

You didn't notice a big bang?

My parking sensor beeped

That means stop then doesn't it! Not keep fking reversing.... Hold on has this clapped out beemer even got a parking sensor? fk this you're clearly winding me up I'm taking your details.

What for?

I'm getting it checked (to be fair there was no obvious damage but the tt had wound me up by this point and it was either take his details or give him a slap. I didn't fancy having to explain to my boss why I'm in the local nick and not back at my desk)What's your name?

Errrr mumble something?

Telephone number?

Gives me a number. I deliberately read back the wrong number

Yep that's it

By this point I just said fk this. Took a photo of him and his car and told him I'll be speaking to my insurance company. His response.

Hold on theres no damage. I'm taking a photo of your car as I've had people make false claims before.

Clearly a great driver then. tt.

Came back to work had a moan had my Heinz soup and sugary treats and called my insurance company and reported it.

Then.................

I start to check my emails and notice one from a Charles Koffi. Turns out him and his sister Grace Koffi (I like that he says they've got the same surname you can never assume in this day and age). Anyway they are the children of the late Mr and Mrs John Koffi.

(Miguel very sad frown )

Anyway. I wipe my tears and read on and even though they are clearly in much anguish over the passing of their parents they've recently found out that their parents were rich and that their parents have left them some money and that they would like to invest this money. 15.5M USD to be exact. Now that's an inheritance.

They've clearly heard about me and my financial prowess in the major circles that move in Berkshire/Hampshire and have asked that I be their financial partner and for helping them I would receive an amazing 20% (poultry by recruitment adviser standards I'm sure wink but hey we've got to start somewhere I guess).

I just need to email them back to get the ball rolling.

(Miguel happy smile)

In Summary. I've dobbed tt boy into my insurance company for hitting my car and I have my first African scam artist I can spend hours, possibly days on winding up. Any comical suggestions?

bd!

I was happily reading this right up to the point it turned into a scam story.

Even the stories about scams are turning into scams on here...

I did consider that but to be honest the vibe from matey was that he was telling me complete lies and being a tt about it so I thought we'll see how you carry on. They've confirmed its insured so he's passed the first hurdle I guess. It wasn't logged as a claim just a notification as such. I can't see how they could put my rates up as its me who called them and I'm not claiming anything.

(ignoring the obvious fact for a moment insurance companies are a law unto themselves)

They will log it as an accident in which no claim was made, declarable for the next 3/5 years with the resultant premium increases...

I'll call them in a bit when I finish work and double check as I specifically asked if it would effect my premiums for the next year and the answer was no as it stands.
