I came out of work today and a learner, in a fully marked driving school car, complete with instructor, they came off this slip road, and went for the fourth exit, I was coming out of the first exit and saw this superb piece of tuition.

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?safe=off&q=52.5...

So the learner came down the slip road in lane 1, but was indicating right, and yes, went all the way round 270 degrees in the outside lane...

Are you sure you have the correct picture to illustrate this...?

Whoops. Seems the iPad defaulted the location back to the search result. I shall correct it on a PC tomorrow.

Well, that at last is the correct location, but I still can't get it to go straight to Street View.

No, it doesn't surprise me in the least.

My experience a while back was 3 lanes approaching roundabout, so obviously left lane goes left, centre lane straight on and right lane turns right.

Driving school car in left lane slightly ahead of me, me in centre lane. Learner drives across in front of me and takes third exit. If learners are being taught like this no wonder there are crap drivers on the road.

I saw a driving school car making a complete hash of parallel parking the other day, with one wheel up over the curb. Initially I thoguth fair enough, everyone starts somewhere, but then I realised there was only one person in the car.

It's weird how some roundabouts are worse for people doing this than others. I see people sitting in the left lane to take the third exit on one roundabout to then use the correct lane to take the third one on the next.

It baffles me how they think they are correct when they just did it different for both.

So how can you blame the student for driving on the kerb if the instructor is obviously supervising by video-link. Or wasn't that what you meant biggrin

Someone recently put a link on here to TheStudentRoom.co.uk and the motoring section is frightening. Students who don't know what a dual carriageway is for example, and a girl who couldn't drive a petrol car because she'd been taught in a diesel to pull away just by using the clutch (no throttle at all) and this seems not to be unusual. Another thread on here a while back mentioned learners being told to stay in the middle lane on motorways.

There are many good instructors but there are many bad ones too. They teach how they drive. Many of them think that the only way to go straight ahead at a roundabout is to use lane 2 of an approach (in the absence of lane markings). And they think nothing of using lane 1 to make a 3 o'clock exit. That's why there is so little hope out there.

A hell of a lot of adults don't seem to know either
