Sub £50 (hopefully a lot less) compact with chunky on/off and shutter controls for a 4 year old...

Had a v-tech kiddy thing and it was dire tat. Am thinking a more mainstream marque but with suitably sprog-friendly tactility.

Suggestions?

My three year old will fight me (not really but you get the gist) to use my Pentax W90. It's drop and waterproof so she can't really damage it. The controls are easy enough for her to use, she can turn it on and take pics with it.

I know the current version is about £190 so outside your budget, but the W90 is about three? models old so maybe an ebay bargain?

Secondhand Panasonic FT-10. Waterproof, drop-proof, no lens sticking out and excellent pictures as a bonus.

Mine's lived for the past few years being drowned in my motorcycle jacket; I can't kill it!

Is there not a law against swapping children for cameras?

very good smile

I really like the suggestions above for the secondhand rubberised cameras - they do seem to sell for a fair bit tho! I need some model numbers for some old models to search the 'bay!

Kodak Easyshare c123.

Simple, cheap, waterproof to 10m, dust proof and shock resistant.

Ours doubles as my beach/pool/snorkelling camera as well as my 6 year old daughters camera. Produces surprisingly good results in good light.

I agree about the vetch thing - even for a toddler's camera it's a disgrace.
