check that the fit of the blade stem to the bearing is snug and not loose otherwise the motor spindle will be slipping in its socket. the fact that ther is still a whirring sound seems to imply that the motor is working but that the connection between it and the blade is disconnected. The bearings do wear out with time - first the wiper gets very noisy, then it stops. You're probably looking at a new one

It's been noisy for ages, when you say new one, what are we talking about here, the whole box mecanisum that attches to the rear window?
If so any idead where the best place is to get one & possible costs involved (I recon I can fit it myself)

I have a spare rear wiper motor which has had the motor cleaned/refurbished by a friend.

Might be available if you're interested. I was either going to keep it as a spare or ebay it.

It is pretty simple to fit yourself.

Let me know through my profile.

The rear wiper on my 924S makes an absolute racket!
Everytime I operate it there is an almighty whirring sound. I had assumed that this was due to the whole mechanism being mounted in the glass.
Does this sound mean that the motor is on its way out then?

Mine broke and when I took it apart found a large white plastic cog which had been stripped of a lot of teeth. If you take the cover off the box you'll be able to see which bits are going around when you turn it on and which aren't.

Hi Buster!

The rear wiper motor on my 944 tbo made a dreadful racket also, still it worked for 6 years without fail.

Presume you've fixed it now have you ??

Hi Si,

Yes, purchased a replacement and then a friend refurbished the original - hence the spare.

Any news on the Griff yet?
