Knee cap dislodge pain
Discussion
I took a knock on my left knee last week playing football, it was right under the knee cap and I instantly felt the pain.
Almost 2 weeks on, the pain at the front has gone but I've been limping since the following day of the event.
2 main issues:
Pain around the side/back of the knee (just above the calf) - although this has eased a little, when it happens, it feels like constant cramp on the muscles!
Left hand side of the knee cap rubbing/clicking against the underside bone when fully extending the leg. If I do this with leg clinched, it is not so bad and avoids the clicking.
I've started doing some knee strengthening exercises that physios recommend, but a little worried about the knee cap being dislodged.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance

I feel for you OP, I have dislocated my left knee cap twice once it went around to back of my leg! It is the most painful injury I have ever had.
My advise is go to your GP on Monday, he/she will probably refer you for a scan. I was very lucky with mine, no damage to the tendons although you never forget and keep checking it is in place.

Is the knee joint very swollen up like this one:

Because with a knock, some new clicking and a globally swollen knee you should see a specialist quite soon.

Thanks guys, but luckily it is not that bad.
Basically, because of the knock, I've slightly miss-aligned the knee cap outwards hence the rubbing pain.
Got to see the Dr, he said there is no ligament damage just some internal swelling; so recommended knee exercises and anti-inflammatory tablets.
I've been doing the knee exercises and are working great, rubbing of the knee cap has decreased with very little pain but I've now got pain where I actually took the knock in the first place, bang on the Meniscus.
I've been doing some reading on the t'internet and learned the Meniscus the cartilage is the shock absorber for the knee.
When I press it, it feels very sore and if I twist the knee inwards, I get short, sharp pain.
So, any recommendations on getting the Meniscus fixed and recovered?
Thanks!
