Tim said you were happy with your trumpets, they do seem reasonably priced at £250, and the labour charge is likely to be under an hour, so a good cost effective upgrade in terms of performance for £pounds.

bhp is supposed to be 5+, maybe as much as 10 but no guarantees, and (most importantly ) the sound of the car is likey to change "favourably" becoming slightly louder.

Would 7bhp noticable from the drivers point of view? And how does the sound change, can you explain the (noticible?) difference in volume and tone? Its partly the fact that the trumpets might alter the sound which makes this mod attractive enough to consider it, I just wanted to hear a few opinions on the matter.

Ohh pies, I know you're here

Is 7bhp noticible in the real world, and what did the trumps do as far as exhaust note goes?

To be honest bob, the sound of the car will not change much, you may get a little more induction roar, but probably not. I don't think the exhaust note will change at all.

The ACT parts are all about performance, and not really too much about cosmetics, although the carbon bits do look very cool.

Bhp is all relative, it is also relative to how the car is set up.

I would definitely reccomend the ACT parts as they are excellently made, but I would also strongly advise getting used to the car before upping the power. By piling more and more power on you increase the ease of which you can overstretch your driving abilities. Just a word of warning.

Hmmmmm this is going to be difficult to explain but ill try.IMHO the sound i suspect is altered as the engine can breath much easier.

Weather or not you would notice 7-10 bhp im not sure butyou should be able to notice a better pick up and hopefully more low end torque

Its defo worth doing i got about 7 BHP and another 10lbft of torque (sorry Harry)

Cheers Chris/Colin

Maybe I should pass on the trumps. I dont 'need' more power Part of me (like a kid collecting stickers?) warms to the idea of further mods and more power though, especially with the bonus of a better exhaust note at a reasonable price.

Pies, you said the sound did change, what does it sound like compared to before, how big was the difference?

If you're having yours mapped your engine note will change anyway

As for mods save up and get

a carbon twin throttle plenhum.
bosch AFM
a set of trumpets
new injectors

Get it all thrown on at the same time and get MA to remap the car

I'm supposed to be saving for a cerbera, and only considered fitting trumpets as they are cheap considering the possible performance increase. I was wondering (cue much chin scratching) how much they would change the exhaust note.

Tim said the car would be louder, sound better, but said he couldnt say nor promise by how much.

You'll still be calling it standard even after that lot too

If you're really only concerned with changing the exhaust note you could, have a new exhaust made up Custom, with bigger pipes and no baffles for probably around the same price.

With ACT's kit the car won't reallly get louder, rather just the sound will change to reflect the tune of the engine (it will sound more freed up as the breathing is increased), short of upping compression ratio and changing the cam to a high lift one you really won't get too much of an increase in volume just by fitting extra induction kit.

You're right, I know... but after fitting new ACT sports pipes recently, it would be a waste of money.

Tim was telling me all about your pipes he recommended covering half the perforated pipes for a "half increase" in volume, said the straight throughs might be far too loud. Conversation turned to other mods to change the sound, he mentioned trumpets... for only £250 I thought gains in both depts made it a decent mod to have, especially considering price.

I'd take a bow to Peter on that one , although I believe Kevin and Emma's monster would run it very close.
