Supra-engined Volvo 245: Time for Tea?

What better recipient for a spare twin-turbo straight-six than an old Volvo?

There's a thread in Readers' Cars that you really should set aside half an hour to get familiar with. It's entitled 'Lexus V8 with NOS in a Renault Espace -yeah lets do it!' and it's currently at 23 fascinating pages.

Anyway, we think the poster of that thread, imaginatively called lexspace, would get on rather well with the creator of this video. He's taken the twin-turbo 2JZ-GTE from a Toyota Supra and dumped it in an unassuming Volvo 240 estate body. As you do.

The result, as you might imagine, is rather hilarious. The Volvo will drift and drift and then drift some more, whilst also being fast enough to apparently embarrass a V10 M5. All this whilst looking like a classic barn-find Volvo wagon. Excellent.

Should you wish to emulate this admirable engineering feat, may we suggest this twin-turbo manual Supra (it's one less badly modified version off the road) and one Shed-spec Volvo 240? The rest is down to you.

Enjoy the vid.

There's quite a few builds like this up on Speedhunters. They really like their crazy builds in Sweden. Dropping a 2JZ-GTE in anything is a bit of a cliché these days but it just goes to show what a brilliant engine it must be, especially when you keep the twin-turbo set up - power that is immense and smooth.

It just needs a mattress on that roof rack and it would be like a bunk bed.

As said, the best thing about this is it's visual stealthiness - absolutely amazing bit of kit.

I wouldn't say it embarrassed the M5, other than that crazy car!

Up there with the legendary Volvette. If anything this one is better because it looks more ordinary than the 'vette

The volvette, if you arent familiar... Volvo 740 with a 550bhp v8
