Should I sell my 991s for a gen 1 GT3rs
Discussion
Been thinking of changing my 991s for a gen 1 GT3rs. My situation has changed in that I don't need my car for a daily driver anymore as I have a navara for using daily and I thought I would change the 991 for something more focused. Probably can't afford a gen 2 rs so would need to be a gen 1. Problem is that I'm thinking it might be a big step backwards from what I have. Certainly power wise I think the 991s is just as quick if not a bit quicker and my car is fairly well specced with some bits and bobs to really set it off. I've driven a gen 1 gt3 and the rs and I find them more special places to be but I really like the 991 as well.
Any thoughts lads ?

I put 'value' on how much use and enjoyment I get out of a car.
A GT3RS would be special, and would be great for selected journeys. I'd be sceptical about using the word 'investment', but looked after and mileage kept down, and it should retain a good proportion of its value.
But, something like a 991S is considerably more practical and usable. In the right spec., a fabulous drive, whatever the weather, whatever the distance, amazing dynamics. Someone could buy a 991 and comfortably put 15,000+ mls pa on it for 10 years.
I'd be more tempted to have a really nice air-cooled 3.2/964/993 in the garage, alongside a 991, for sunny day fun and involvement.

You driven both so you know the difference, it just comes down to what you want. Obviously the cars are very different.
I would have the GT3RS way before any 991, but you may be different. There is no right or wrong.
If you had both parked in your garage, which keys would you choose?

Weekend car = 7RS without a shadow of doubt and the added bonus if you like is it will keep its value better
The more modern cars are all so fast and capable nowadays some of the fun has gone.
I'm not proper old school that I want to go back to Fred Flintstones car but something in the last decade gives you everything that you want/need but with added GRIN factor
I've just chosen a more expensive gallardo over a 458 and MP4-12C as my fun weekend car because whilst the other 2 cars were better as a piece of engineering they were nowhere near as much fun
The Mc Laren would be a grrrreat daily drive but would I get up at 5.00 am on a sunny sunday morning to drive it - NO

As an RS owner, evidently I am biased, but I have also done several thousand Km on the 991S. I would say that the RS is not a great daily driver, and I use mine purely for weekending. In terms of creature comforts the 991S is streets ahead. If you are interested in an edgy, engaging driver's car and you want to go for some running on the twisties or on the track, the RS is a more rewarding experience. I have no idea where long term values will go, though if you keep the car for a long time you will probably not get hurt too much.
