Crooked wheel after alignment
Discussion
Got my car Hunter aligned in Sheffield. They appeared to do a good job, alot was in the red and it was all converted to green with thrust angle all looking good etc etc and it all looked straight.
Drove the car and the steering was crooked..gave it a week or so for tyres to scrub in and it was still very much crooked.
Took the car back and they said it all looks straight on the paperwork so it will drive straight, if we need to put it back on the ramp and adjust anything, you will be charged.......
I said screw that and left.
I did pay via credit card and I am not sure where I stand now...

Either their machine isn't calibrated, they don't know how to do a geo or there is something else wrong with the car. Either way, in my (professional) opinion it's not tolerable to give a car back like that after a geo. Generally I road test every car we geo at my place and if it's not right it goes straight back on the ramp.

If it's just the steering wheen that's off then they've done it wrong - all adjustments (Hunter and Beissbarth(?)) that I've have done have first had the steering wheel locked in the dead ahead position.
That assumes the wheel is on straight to start with. They should centre the rack first so you have an equal number of turns to full lock each way, this might not mean the steering wheel is straight. Or just possibly the tyres... I had new track rod ends fitted to my E39 and the garage spent ages getting the steering wheel straight (did it on the machine, but it was off on a road test so lengthened one track rod and shortened the other by the same amount until the steering was straight).
6 months later I swapped the rear tyres onto the front, and the steering wheel was suddenly slightly off centre. The car didn't pull to either side before or after the wheel swap, but there must have been something about one set of tyres which caused it (probably the set I took off given that the garage had to spend a while to get it straight with those tyres on).
I've still no idea exactly what it could be about the tyres which did that - all I could think is if one of them was slightly conical (smaller diameter on one side than the other).

I've had the steering wheel off to fit the cruise. It's pretty clear where the arrow centre position is so the wheel is on correct.
If you hold it straight, the car pulls to the left.
Spoke to trading standards, they said send a letter and take it to another garage for their opinion. If it is indeed wrong then ask original aligners why as in your opinion they have not done the job to a reasonable skill.
There's nothing bent etc. It had some new tie rods etc on the front, hence the alignment.

Maybe the steering wheel isn't straight.
A friend of mine took the steering wheel off, then put it back on straight, to cut the cost of having the tracking done before selling the car.
Could well be possible someone has done that on your car too!
Cheap way out, but you will have uneven turns lock-to-lock!A friend of mine took the steering wheel off, then put it back on straight, to cut the cost of having the tracking done before selling the car.

Easy this one.
They have aligned your cars tracking with the steering wheel off centre or it slipped a little when they were making adjustments. They normally put car on ramp and set the steering wheel straight then use a device that wedges between the SW and seat.
Nothing you have done, their mistake, they should correct FOC.

tIve got this with my mk3 MX5. Made the mistake of getting front alignment done at ATS been back 3times to get it sorted and they show me the screen etc and say its all lined up and they dont know whats happemed. Idiots.
Will be cutting my losses and booking it into somewhere that has some employees with brain cells.
