I am after new car to replace my old MR2 mk2.

I am looking for a fun to drive car that can do track day... but problem is I dont want a MX5.. I had two of them in past.

I would prefer RWD...

I would like good fuel ecomony, reilable. anything goes but not MX-5.

Any suggestion?

I had minis... never again.

MG TF look good but i am cripped with fear, because it came from rover.. i had few rover products... time bomb ticking.

My car history were.

Mini
MR2 mk2
MX5 x2
citroen AX GT

with few 'normal' car inbetween.

E36's are pretty cheap and make good track cars with a few mods

If you can live without RWD I'd say a Mk2 Golf would tick the other boxes.

Maybe an E30 of some sort if RWD is non-negotiable?

E46 328. A 330 is likely to be a dog at £2k.

I know it's not RWD, but £2K will get you a very nice Puma indeed.

Another vote for an E36 328i- best you can find for the money.

Doesn't tick all the boxes, but this is where my money would go for under 2k.

I'm afraid that it will need to be second hand.

Having also owned mx5s and Mr2's I have also just bought a 944 and love it. They are older but still new enough to drive as an only car if requied.

MGF / TF? Cracking fun for less than half that. Don't rust either. If you are worried about HGF then budget £300 for it.

Sensible? Volvo T5 any version. Stupidly quick for pennies.
