The ability of the torque of my 350 to overcome the grip of the tyres in damp conditions - leading to a rather scary moment eek No damage done -if you exclude the gusset of my underpants and my pride smile I guess it's just a little TVR reminder to treat with respect evil

Yes I also got a little big for my boots a few weeks ago.....a little arse end kick out and I gripped tight. The wedge is the boss in the relationship,

Avoid the temptation in the wet when little scrote in his hot hatch has his quadruple headlights in ya rear, giving it large can be costly especially as it'll probably end up on YouTube.

Yeah been there done that - opposite lock, hold the throttle, it'll come back into line.

All part of the fun! ;^)

Clarkson quote from the good old days

“Owning a TVR in the past was like owning a bear. I mean it was great, until it pulled your head off, which it would.”

I was out today with a few tuscans. doing very "spirited" driving in the damp to keep up with them (mind i have 2.8). The back was slipping and sliding all over the leave strewn mud covered country lanes between moffat and selkirk.
It was bloody great fun.

The only thing I ever drive that way is my company van wink If I might have to fix it myself, there's a little warning buzzer in the back of my head... biggrin

I had a similar moment in my XJ Sport ("everyday car" I've not been playing in the wedge for a few weeks), was on an uphill stretch with some leaves on the road and as I put my foot down gently the auto box decided a down change would be fun, the rear tyres spun and if I hadn't caught it nice and early so would the car have done!

The joys of lots of horses and rear drive....I love it.

Taking the gearbox out is hard, taking my wallet out is even harder :-( Solution, treat your Wedge as you would a valuable Chinese vase :-)

I must confess that on odd occasions i do drive enthusiastically and have gone round roundabouts a bit lively and was very impressed at the traction such an old car has, Not a peep from the rear tyres and it certainly got my heart pumping faster!…There has also been a couple of times where i have had to break pretty heavy to avoid dozy twaats who decide to pull out from side roads that enter dual carriageways!..However in the wet its a totally different story!…Definitely brown trousers..laugh

Tried that adam - it didn't biggrin

Woke up today a little greyer but very much wiser smile
Q: How much throttle do you give a wedge on the exit of a corner when its wet and covered in soggy old leaves
A: Very, very little

Found Bridgstones were absolutely superb in the wet (very hoonable). Toyos, not as good but good (hoonable with care), and some version of Yoko I had gave me the screaqming hebejeebees every time it rained (no hooning. Stop, step away from the car in case it fell over).

But more than anything, never when you have just started off.

Very true, but surviving the event tends to remind you of that as well wink

I agree, I used to have a 1.3 Escort (Front wheel drive and gutless) that I used to drive to 95% of the limit most of the time, I can manage similar acceleration etc in the wedge with less than 25% of what its got, it's nice to push things a little from time to time, but I tend to aim for about 75% of the limit in the wedge so I have most of the thrills and a bit in hand to avoid the "spills".

Comes in handy when you find yourself doing 70mph on a Motorway Junction Roundabout (mildy lead foot, not too much speed on approach before anyone assumes that).....The Wedge coped (JUST!) not sure my everyday ride would have faired so well TBH.

Its good to drive them close to the limit (if the conditions permit) occasionally then you know what to expect if the unexpected happens.

Having had some basic "rally driver" training in the past also helps I find. (Long story but almost ended up in an N class drive in the late 80's / early 90's, just before the banks got the jitters about such things.)
