Shish is normally marinated meat, but not what I would describe as spicy. Flavoursome maybe.

Kofte I find a bit flaky and boring.

Kofte is the one with more spices/flavours in it. As for which is hotter, it depends on your local. I personally feel kofte is nicer though, more juicy. shish (especially chicken) can get abit dry.

Working on the basis you are on the food forum.... just google the recipes (BBC is a good start) and you should see that generally the Kofte has more spices as above.

Shish can have just as much flavour and also can be blindingly spiced (hot) but that is down to you or the chef smile

If spice and heat is what you are after - Kofte is your friend beer

They're totally different things. Shish is cubes of meat, kofte is minced meat combined with onions, spices, etc, then formed into patties.

Don't forget that some kebab houses have Chicken Shish that look very like the traditional Doners. If the question is being asked, there is a (not unreasonable) assumption that the OP really doesn't know the differences etc.

And many don't know the difference between doner and shish! smile

ps - Let alone Kofte!!!!! To many, a Kofte is simple a kebab - but isn't that what a doner is? beer
