2006 S3 roadsport - I have fitted wide track wishbones, I bought the caterham adaptors for shocks and the steering rack, now I have fitted it all together with the steering rack arms wound right into the back of the adaptors the wheels both point outwards with no adjustment left to draw them in.

It looks like I may have to cut some threads of each steering rack arm to give me back any adjustment. Is that what others have done? seems fairly drastic action I would like some reassurance before I cut them.

If you've fitted wide track trackrods you wont need the rack extensions.

Ive not fitted wide track rods, if I take the spacers out and connect everything the wheels point way to far in the other direction

I've had to cut racks down before - I reckon the extensions were 'designed' in the days of crossply tyres.

Are you sure you have not mixed up the damper extensions with the rack ones? Not sure if the threads are the same - defo 1/2" UNF on the rack.

I haven't fitted the WT on my car by myself as it was fitted when I bought it but AFAIK cut down the racks is a common task you need to do during WT conversion.

The damper extensions and the rack extensions have different threads so you cant get them wrong. This afternpoon I bit the bullet and cut about 4 threads off the end of the rack screws each side .....refitted job done!
