It's raining, windy and I'm at the front of the red lights. 3 motor bikers decide to push their bikes through the double lane queued traffic to get to the front of the lights, 1 of which knocks my wing mirror and another narrowly misses scraping past. The 3 of them then feel the need to accelerate off slowly and take up both lanes. Noticing more and more how I have to keep an eye out for swerving, undertaking bikers.

You poor thing.

I know they shouldn't have knocked your mirror, but no one rides a bike to sit in queues.

If you keep left they can't undertake you. I see plenty of cars positioned so we can't ride between them in queues where there is enough room to get between 2 LGVs.

Mirror aside, bikes filtering to the front of the queue doesn't impede you, it makes better use of the road.

I don't ride motorbikes but I've heard enough stories of bikers at the back of queues getting killed by drivers not noticing them. I expect them to come to the front for safety & would consider it a failing on my part if A: I did not see them coming & B: did not leave them space to get through ( & I drive a BMW hehe)

I wish I could encourage more drivers of the benefits of checking the nearside mirror once in a while.

As a biker & driver, it amazes me some of the stupid positions I see riders putting themselves in, regardless of if you are in the right or wrong, you will come off worse in a collision.

The most idiotic thing I think I have seen is someone overtaking between two HGVs doing the 56mph elephant race. Quite how stupid that is I think most people can work out, but that said most drivers of any vehicle are pretty poor now.

Sorry, I thought it was meant to be a verb in the title, not an adjective; I was hoping for some tips frown

It makes sense if you think about it: they're definitely not going to change lanes wink

Indeed Mike, but I also wish I could convince some of my fellow motorcyclists to think how their actions sometimes induce the op's thoughts into other road users, in the same way good cyclists don't like the bad ones.

I've only over been hit once from behind in 36 years, she didn't see me, my bike, the zebra crossing, or the people on it ........ so I don't think she was picking on me because I was riding a motorbike.

How can you be killed at the back of a queue? genuine question.

By the driver approaching the back of the queue not wishing to become the new back of it, so carrying on driving over the unfortunate rider?

Would the driver not be almost stopped anyway, i.e. too slow to do much damage?

Particularly the ones with badly adjusted aftermarket HID lights.
