I was driving my car last night on the motorway and the entire drivers side indicator light unit just simply ripped off , scratched the front wings, bounced off the bonnet, denting it and then disappeared.

the car now is parked on my street with no indicator unit on it.

of course I am going to drive to the garage on Monday and get a new indicator light, but I was wondering what the police would do if they see me driving the car?

If the police see you I'd imagine you'll get a producer. I can't see them doing any more than that.

I had this happen with the wife's C70 Volvo. 70mph on the motorway the drivers indicator unit decided to jump ship but huge around just long enough to bounce around on the bulb wire smashing the wing. It could have been worse, some years back on the M40 I narrowly missed an Audi A4 bonnet flying over the central reservation.

Before the pics were posted, I assumed you owned an S2 Elise. Pretty much all of them had their indicators pop out at some point.

I have to drive on the motorway tomorrow morning, do I just use hand signals when I am overtaking?

The car is not roadworthy in that condition.

This happened in my mates Sapphire Cosworth, just going past 170mph on the clock & both indicators blew out , and dented the wings just behind the indicator gaps... They stayed attached on the wires though. He's wire locked them in now, as they are normally just held in with springs.
