How much tree damage do you reckon these winds will cause and is it worth trying to park your car somewhere else in which case?

We park under a pretty substantial conker tree which should probably be alright, but I'm tempted to try and move it somewhere a bit safer. Trouble is there's a lot of them 'round 'ere.

I'd imagine a shower of conkers could make a fair old mess of your paintwork. hehe

Obviously the tree will protect the car from the wind yes

record it on a webcam so we can all watch it later.

I'm going to park my car a few feet further away from the house in case a roof tile or two breaks loose. I wouldn't be parking under a tree mostly because of all the crap and twigs and leaves they're likely to shed.

You're fighting sods law. Move it away from the tree and roof tiles or wheelie bins will attack it instead.

So we can't park near trees or houses? Guess the farmers are in for a shock when they wake up to fields full of cars coated in bubble wrap.

This is true superhangon!

Yep I'm serious, we've got a car port which protects them from all the conkers and little branches but I wouldn't be too confident in it's ability to defend against one of the bigger branches.

This storm sounds pretty bad but didn't know if it's just the usual sort of thing where you get the odd old tree or half dead branches coming off, or whether there's gonna be some fairly major carnage..

Is 80mph wind in 2013 more potent than previous years? Suggest putting lots of cushions on the car just in case.

Seriously.

Damage from rampant wheelie bins I can cope with. Kamikaze roof tiles are a different matter.

I did briefly think of moving ours further up the drive, away from the house but who's to say an 80mph wind can't carry a roof tile 20 yards anyway?

Ah yes of course, I should really refer to the detailed surveys I undertook of the 3000 people who parked under sturdy looking trees during those storms of the exact same wind speeds...

Well there's a tree down one end of my street and another has lost a massive section at the other end.

I had a 12 foot olive tree in pot outside my back window. It's now 10 feet away on the lawn.

Flashing has been ripped off my roof.

Great.....

As Billy Connolly once said. Look out for Rowan trees. because these are other worldly, magical, mystical trees................................and its considered quite unlucky when one of them falls on your car!

Escaped pretty well here, didn't even flatten the grass. This won't stop the railways grinding to a halt :/
