Should i let it go,
Discussion
Walking the dogs earlier and this lady had 2 pointers off the lead and a Labrador.
Ours were on the lead as we know Megan (Bassett) is not trust worthy and Fred(Bassett) is a rescue that we are still geling with.
(I digress)
As one of the ladies pointers decided to aggressively say hello
This happened,

As most dogs are more prone to excessive animation whilst on the lead, this happened to Mollie. Our chocky lab.
She appears OK but I'm felling angry at the women who said " sorry about that but one (name) goes for and the other protects.
Should I let it go, Mollie is fine after all the extra attention.

TBH it looked like a small scratch than a cut didn't go to the vet but this morning she looks Mohammed Ali did it.
Eye swollen like proper a shiner, the OH is taking her to the vet this morning but I reckon they will say it worse than it is.
The woman is a regular down the track we were on but as we normally go the opposite way and later we very rarely come across her, tonight's walk will consist of a little waiting

Do not underestimate the nastiness a dig bite can inflict. I wrongly assumed you'd had it checked by a vet yesterday.
The vets will not make more of it than it is because it is a nasty wound, just look at how red it is in the pics. And it is a very delicate area.
If this was as it seems to be, an unprovoked attack then get the owner to pay up, if not tell her you will inform the police. I get sick and tired of irresponsible owners.
She will need a'bios and pain relief at the least, it will prob need bathing a couple times a day to stop it closing up too quickly. It will depend on the damage to the tissue as to whether surgical intervention is needed, hopefully not at this stage.
Hope it heals quickly.

Interestingly I saw some bad injuries today on the local field.
Two staffie crosses went for each other. They both have good owners and both dogs are very friendly. All put up with Logan and his puppy boisterousness and have never gone for him or any other dogs.
Today may due to the weather when it broke there must have been 15 dogs all together. One staffie took the others ball and it all kicked of. I got Logan on the lead and pulled another staffie out of it while the owners tried to separate the two dogs that had locked onto each other.
Both had cuts to ears face and lips. Quite a lot of blood and one owner was also bitten when she tried to separate them.
I think that was just one of those things. All were playing nice for ages.
Yesterday a collie went for Logan and made him yelp and cry which was surprising they said hello nice then it just went for him. 3 Yorkshire terriers have gone for him too.
What I don't understand is owners who have their dogs off the lead and tell me to keep mine on because theirs gets nasty. ...
Well put yours on the f

It makes other owners and members of the public aware that the dog may not be approached if it has a yellow ribbon attached to its' collar or lead.
Helps prevent needless harm to dogs and people alike....
It has been running for some time now, yet even our vet was unaware !!!
OP............. I hope your dog recovers quickly

Should be muzzled when in public! We met a chap the other week with a lab & a collie X. The collie was old & although friendly, didn't appreciate the 13 month-old hooligan, front paws in the air at her rear.
She firmly reinforced the point by taking a mouthful of his fur, but it wasn't at all the lips-bared snarling that I've witness before. All over in seconds & the boy learned his lesson. Well sort-of, after the third time.
No blood drawn & no harm done. Common sense prevailed.

DD, I hope Mollie recovers quickly.

For older dogs he wasn't so good and was never very good at defending himself well, even when he was attacked he never bit back and always tried to avoid conflict bless him
. what I did know is that he would not start any trouble and neither would he encourage it, I felt very lucky with him.I echo the hope that Mollie is doing ok, hopefully not too sore today.
I have learnt a lesson here, never think that a scratch, graze or bite however small is nothing.
Vet said swelling was more down to rubbing it due to irritation and caused an infection than the cut itself.
I did decide wrongly in not going to the vet and molls suffered because of it.
After antibiotic injection a clean up and some eye drops she is almost normal it's just the head cone she has on that's being the pain in the arse and not the cut but we're leaving it on until Friday just to be safe.
After a bit of stalking I know where the woman lives as I was lucky enough to catch her coming out of her house with the dogs for a walk.
Next step is should I blame her or me for not going to the vets.
I have seen the same sort of scratch and cuts from our dogs chasing and playing so it could have easily been our own dogs that caused it.

Please don't beat yourself up about it. The treatment regime would not have been much different it may just take s bit longer to clear up. It's always easy in hindsight.
The owner of the other dog is still ultimately to blame and had you seen a vet in the Sunday there would have been an out of hours charge most likely so cost wise not much difference to her. Don't apologise to her for not taking Mollie in the se day, just state the facts.

I reckon that dogs on leads are on the defensive. They know they can't get away and get waspy when another dog approaches which makes them bite.
It was rather unlikely that you could take an animal to the vet and him/her say "oh, it's fine, just give it a clean with some warm salty water. Just keep an eye on it and if it's not better in a few days, bring it back". They have bills to pay and saw £200 when you walked through the door.

I really don't agree, any animal is taken when it's needed. It's the ignorance of an owner ( ME included ) that fails to prevent further problems to the animal.
I didn't think it needed a vet because it seemed a small cut MY MISTAKE.
Cost is never an issue, I have learnt that peace of mind is a lot cheaper than letting your pet suffer needlessly.
BexVN myself and many others value you advice and opinions, please continue excessively as myself and others can only benefit.
Just had salt water bathe,
Still kicking myself that I didn't do the right thing for Mollie, won't happen again.
