TDCi injection return pipe leak - common problem?
Discussion
Guys,
Noticed I could smell diesel on Thursday morning, phones my local Dealer to book in for today.
Friday afternoon there's a small patch of fuel on the floor
Luckily have had use of another car over the weekend.
Dropped off this morning in to dealers to be told that it's probably the return pipes or seals as that's what it is 99% of the time - so is this a common problem?
I'm hacked off as the car (2010 1.8 Mondeo estate) is 4 week out of warranty, and they had it for an MOT and Service 5 weeks ago.
Apparently there's no warning signs that this will occur - replacement will be the bargain price of £297.00!
Not impressed by the quality of this car at all - under the warranty it's had a new drivers seat, DMF, drive shaft support bearing and 2 alternator/drive belt tensioners and bearings......
Does anyone think I've got a chance of not been stiffed for best part of £300 by complaining to Customer Services?
Thanks
Chris

Is quite a common issue on the Peugeot engines but only takes 20 mins to replace it! So the price seems a bit high even with the discount
Thanks for the reply.I dropped it in at 08:00 this morning and had a call at 11:30 to say fixed. Thought it would be a longer job than that.
Other than having another crack at Customer Services I don't know what else to do.
No much you can do I am afraid. Very common problem on the old engine ( the work horse I run 54 plate tdci) I though they had fixed the issues on the new model but apparently not. I bought one accepting the fact the injectors will fail but the mondeo is so cheap compared to VAG stuff it's worth the risk.
Old Model seem to fail around 100k, what miles on yours?

Just coming up to 40k which is even more of an insult. I wouldn't mind if I was doing galactic mileage I could accept failures a bit more.Old Model seem to fail around 100k, what miles on yours?
