Yesterday morning I tried starting my Boxster and the battery was flat. Jump started the car and went driving for just over an hour. Tried starting this morning and the car did just about turn over and start but the starter motor did struggle as the battery was clearly low on charge. I have noticed that the same thing occur over the past few weeks if the car has not been driven for 4/5 days. I'm therefore assuming my battery is in need of replacement...

I have seen that Europarts sell a Bosch S5 battery and was hoping someone could confirm for sure whether this battery is suitable for my Boxster? Europarts website suggests it is, but just looking to double check.

Also, I've read the advice about keeping the ignition key in position 2 whilst changing the battery to stop the alarm going off and also that I may need to reset the window stop position. I have a replacement Kenwood head unit so I don't think I need to worry about entering stereo codes, but are there any other things I need to do either before or after replacing the battery?

Thanks in advance.

The Bosche battery you have given the link to will be fine and will also last longer than the Porsche one.

That's what I stuck in my Cayman and yep, hell of an improvement over the POS Porsche battery.

My battery was shot when I swapped it. Alarm didn't go off and I had no issues with the radio. You'll get a check light for the PSM. That sorts itself out after a quick drive.

Battery fitted in about an hour this afternoon. Would have been 30 mins but it took me ages to find the right socket piece to fit the clamp that holds the battery down. The Bosch S5 battery is smaller and considerably lighter than the battery it replaced which is a bonus. I just followed the instructions in the owners manual + left ignition key in position 2. Had to reset the clock and the various settings on my stereo head unit, but other than that all went as expected. Starter motor turns over straight away now rather than sounding slightly labored.

Funnily enough my 2000 Boxster S did exactly this yesterday. I bought a 5 Year Warranty Bosch battery from Halfords for £92 + £7 to fit it. It now spins over a lot faster than it did before. That was trade card price, full price is £116
