anyone know where i can get new, or one new bonnet brace for my chimaera? or a good condition used one for that matter.

the one that runs from the nearside front to the offside is almost cut in two!

it seems to be coming into contact with the alternator bracket and it has either worn thro', or, i suspect someone has cut the tube to avoid the contact occuring. Is this common?

I also need an arm for keeping the bonnet up - the one i have is a single alloy rod with threads at the end but it is too short - what is supposed to be there?

Don't know about the cross brace but you should have a 'socket' fitting on the end of the alloy rod. This fits onto the ball fitting on the underside of the bonnet.

If nobody has a picture I could try and upload one from my digital new fangled dang camera thingy.

Er, no. He's talking about the pre facelift bonnet which had alloy rods in a X configuration to brace the bonnet rather than the later moulded insert. They polish up much better than the plastic!!!

No, mine don't get close to any bracketry, and unless they've been fitted upside down I cant see how they would. They are kinked to follow (appoximately) the curvature of the bonnet.

If its the alternator fan guard thats catching I would guess the fan belt is too long (IIRC 1075 mm belt brings alt down below roccker cover & away from manifold). Try Douglas Valley for bits you need.

So I didn't read "I also need an arm for keeping the bonnet up - the one i have is a single alloy rod with threads at the end but it is too short - what is supposed to be there?"?

I thought the belt maybe too long but the car was just serviced at a TVR dealer (hexham HC) before i bought it - thought they should have picked up on this? Think i will have to check it out myself.

Bonnet braces - think i will have to have a look at some other cars as the brace i have does not follow the curve of the bonnet - at least not anymore!

thanks for the comments.
