Hi chaps,

I've just been reading my favourite Porsche magazine (french mag - Flat 6) and they have an article about a 996 GT2 conversion by PSI Motorsport in Belgium, called the RTS-4. It has set a new Flat 6 record for the 100 to 200 km/h increment, carried out by stabilising the car in 3rd gear at 100 km/h then flooring it. The record was previously held by a Freisinger GT2 993.

This beast is a special built for a spanish client who felt that their normal 720 bhp kit wasn't enough - it has 807 bhp and, comically, 911 Nm of torque, but god knows what the engine longevity will be. Didn't 9ff talk about 20,000 km rebuilds for their 700 and something bhp engine?

Right - who's going to be the first to bring one along to VMax for a laugh? Mind you, it is electronically limited to 220 mph so maybe not worth the bother.....

I saw the headline and thought GuyR had gone back to RUF so that he could break 200mph at the next VMAX

Nel, brilliant.

I see they do a 600bhp uplift for the 993tt - fancy giving it a go and reporting back to base?

Lumme, where will it all end?

Now you mention it....GT2 cams, petrol pressure regulator, KKK27 turbos, exhaust and cat change, motronic box reprogramming. A mere bagatelle at £12k (before VAT yikes). But 600 bhp and 820 Nm of torque...ulp.

807 bhp is beyond comprehension, Guy makes 550 look pretty useful and convincing.

I very nearly called Ruf today to ask for more power, but remembered that I bought the R-GT2 as a sensible car with modest power to leave behind the power-chasing excesses (read multiple engine rebuilds) of the Japanese Tuning Scene.

Mind you, I do really need more power.

What could they do? Is the 590 hp Nardo spec still the highest they can go? I read a test of a light blue R turbo (911 world?) a while back, where RUF said they were working on getting more than that from the engine.

Would suspension mods be needed to cope with >550?

I remember the day my 951 was upgraded from 250 to 300bhp and I thought 'Feck me, who would want more power than this'.

Trouble is it feels slow again now. Turbos are very naughty cars

I would guess not.

I thought Guys car handled absolutely superbly. Between that and Clubsports RS, one of the best handling 911s I've ever been in.

I can't believe Guy's done nothing with the suspension. He even told me that RUF advised to leave well alone.
