Hi guys,

need to replace the rear tyres on my car in the very near future and I'm not looking at top of the range Pirellis at £300 per corner but want a decent, mid-range tyre.

Tyre size is 275/40R19 and looking at either Falken 453s at around £195 or Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 2 K117 at around £220.....are the Hankooks worth the extra?

Any other recommendations of tyres?

Many thanks

edit - i've just seen I could get goodyear eagle F1 asymmetric 2 tyres for around £240 - not cheap but had them on the E38 and they were chuffing magic.....tempting.

Another fan of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 2's here, can't see past them, shop around for price online.

Kumho KU39's seem to be fairly well regarded and a good deal cheaper than the premium brands.

Cheers!

I've just put 4 new Falken 453s on my 645Ci and they're doing brilliantly. Also looked at Eagle F1s but couldn't find anywhere to deliver and fit them quick enough.

Avon ZZ3s if you can get your hands on them.

ZZ5's on my V8 Ross, and I haven't noticed any difference in those over the Pirrelli's it came dressed in. I believe the ZZ5's superceded the ZZ3's. I remember paying about £135 fitted, at PETS, North Harbour, A27. Those are 255/40/18 tho'

At that sort of price I think I'd be buying the Goodyears. They've been excellent in all the wet weather recently and they're nice and quiet too.

Being Camskill that doesn't include fitting so you'll have to find someone locally to fit them for you. Generally speaking you pay £5-10 a corner for fitting and balancing.

Good tyres though; that's what I'd be going for I think.

Indeed, I remember when I first got them on that car, was amazed at just how good they were. The wet weather grip is comically good.

Yeah, a friend is on the board of directors there so I be getting my tyres at trade price, but you'd be amazed there's often very little difference in it. I use black circles as a guide mainly. I've sent him a text and he said he'll get back to me tomorrow smile

Happy days. We'll still a lot of money but if I can get them for around that price I'd be very happy.

I doubt there's a huge amount of margin in Camskill's prices. I suspect they buy in huge bulk and have virtually no overheads - all they really need is the actual tyres and a warehouse to keep them in. smile

Anoyingly Avon no longer seem to do a tyre big enough for me.
And 275/35/r18 isnt even that big any more.

The Goodyear F1A2s will make everything else mentioned here look rubbish.

Gone for the Goodyears, £205 Inc fitting and balancing, but 4 wheel alignment will be extra. Happy with that price for such good tyres. I was really impressed with them on my last car but expected them to be nearer £250+ in this size.
